I am thinking more about backports from sid to etch and sarge. In thiscase, I would rather keep the unstable version with no added characters. For example, when I bring a new package into the main archive but I want a local stable or oldstable version for my servers. If a recompilation is necessary, then I have to do it for unstable and bump the revision up.
