Knowing (a) what <package-name> is, and (b) what exactly you did that
matches "what apt-get -b does" would be helpful.

It might be better asking on Ubuntu-specific fora; Ubuntu does change the
way things work from a stock Debian system, so there may well be an
Ubuntu-specific problem at play.
