O, the package looks as ready to me, only two small glitches remain that
I forgot to mention in the previous mail.
Sinte the source is re-packaged, two additional things are needed.
First, the version number should indicate that there was a repackaging.
1.1a.ds1 should do it
("ds" meaning "debian source")
Second, an additional file in debian/ - README.Debian-source should
explain why the repackaging was done. That file should be installed in
usr/share/doc/spout See Developer Reference 6.7.8.2 for details and
nice ideas for constructing "proper" tarball.
I guess these are the final nitpicks from my side.
I have a slight concern about this part of your mail:

Packaging something that is not actively developed may pose more burden
on your side (fixing bugs, etc), but since you're the maintainer, that
is your decision to make :)
