It looks like there are several changes you made to the package that
aren't documented in debian/changelog.  Please document all of your
changes there.

Not that it matters for Debian, but this change actually reduces
portability.  (Both versions are equivalent on Debian, which only uses
modern kernels.)

Why lpr in one place and lp in another?  (There may be a good reason.  I
just can't follow well enough in the code to know what it might be.)

Other than that, this looks fine.  I'd be willing to sponsor it with those
changes.
