uscan and how to extract a version from a README file

Hi all!

I want to add a watch file to a package but the upstream distribution is
in a directory *without* a version number, and the dir does not contain
a file with the version as part of the filename.

So now I want to extract the version from the README file which is
present in the directory.

AFAIU uscan does only match with href stuff, so this doesn't work with a
normal text file.

Is there any other way to extract the version from a plain text file?

Best wishes

Norbert
