With acpitool you can get much more information like lcd
brightness, fan status, cpu information, put the laptop to
sleep (if swsusp is installed and works) and get information
about "wakeup capable" devices. That means that you can use
acpitool - W x to enable/disable the LID feature (the
backlight of a lcd display will be off/on then). So if the
hotkey doesn't work for any reason, you could use acpitool to
disable it. You can read more about it on the upstreamer's
website.
