Not really. The autobuilders build for unstable on unstable, and it's
generally not practical to have them do anything else (this has been
gone over frequently).
It's not uncommon for a maintainer to actually *slow things down* by
building against an older library, because the older library that he
compiles against is no longer in unstable and the newer library that the
autobuilders compile against wasn't in stable. That tends to make the
whole dependency chain deadlock. Please don't try it. :)
