Bug#217592 - Help needed

tags 217592 +help
thanks

This seems to be a libtool issue, but I'm not totally sure. Has anyone
experienced something like this (paste from the build log):

../../libtool: line 3590: ELF [0-9][0-9]*-bit [LM]SB (shared object|dynamic lib ): command not found
[...]
*** Warning: linker path does not have real file for library -lm.
*** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in when
*** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a
*** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have
*** because I did check the linker path looking for a file starting
*** with libm and none of the candidates passed a file format test
*** using a file magic. Last file checked: /lib/libm-2.3.2.so

Of course my package build-depends on libc6-dev, and successfully
builds on all arches but s390. The libtool in use is

VERSION=1.5.0a
TIMESTAMP=" (1.1220.2.25 2003/08/01 19:08:35) Debian$Rev: 49 $

Thanks for any information on this issue,
       Andy
