update-modules: error if /etc/modules.conf manually changed

Hello

I've just got a bug report (#145768) about the autofs package.
This user manually changed /etc/modules.conf. The postinst
and postrm scripts call update-modules for recreating the file
/etc/modules.conf. But if this file is manually changed,
update-modules exits with an error, and the installation of
the autofs package fails.

I could call update-modules with the option `force', but this
would overwrite the manually changed /etc/modules.conf file.

Acually all package installing files into /etc/modutils/ have
this problem.

What should I do? Should I `manually' close this bug? What would be a
solution for this user?

Thanks.

Daniel
