Sending ITP during long NM process?

Hello everyone. I had a quick question. Is it considered a good idea to send
an ITP to WNPP during your NM process to let people know that a package is
coming? (ack! alphabet soup).

I have 16 packages on my site at http://jay.bonci.com/debian ready to go,
and I'm currently looking at a few more in my spare time, but I don't want
want to conflict with any other packages. Is that the correct place to
coordinate them?

For instance, I am working on a package for slash (the engine that powers
slashdot). It's just about working, and I don't want anyone else to have to
duplicate efforts.

Just looking for the right way to head. Thanks for any help.
