The links should be relative. Several other packages are doing this,
for example imlib-progs:
/usr/share/doc/imlib-progs -> imlib-base
Look at these packages, if they have also lintian errors. If so, then
lintian should be changed.

Yes, just copy the commands you need into your postinst file from
/usr/share/debhelper/autoscripts/postinst-doc
