So, what's the recommended way to generate output in a postinst that
uses debconf?

For example: "Starting operation that may take a few minutes..."

Just "echo Starting..." interferes with debconf, so I've been doing
either 1) db_stop first; or 2) "echo Starting... 1>&2".  Or, is there
some debconf way to do it?
