You are booting the install system in single user mode?  You are
forced to do this?  Why?

Uh, booting from the install system (stuff on root.bin), I've never
tried telinit.  Let's just say that's "unsupported".

Nothing, really.  I mean, it does fudge around a bit with
/target/etc/inittab if that's what you mean?
