hi, this is really a kernel issue, you need to setup the kernel, or
appropriate modules for your NIC.
http://www.linuxdoc.org has many docs, look for kernel/net howto's
etc., its well categorized.

so.. yes, this can be done after install.


also please use debian-user in future for such questions,
-mentors is for new maintainers.
