It did work for the wmaker-kde.deb but it didn't work for the wmaker-gnome.deb. I asked here on mentors about this about 1-2 months ago and didn't get any reply on how to make it work. I also have issue with having that clutter in the control file when the darn files don't actually exist anywhere.
