Forgot this bit.  Both deb-make and dh_make are used to turn an
upstream source into a Debian package, so are used only when the
package is first packaged.  After that, the rest of the debhelper
package becomes much more useful.  Also, deb-make is sort of
deprecated in favour of dh_make; have a look at the debhelper package
as well if you haven't already.
