Well, if it works and it passes the lintian checks you should go ahead
and upload it I think. The file listing looks ok.

If your upstream source file is called

package_version.orig.tar.gz

then build should call dpkg-source to build

package_version-debversion.diff.gz
package_version-debversion.dsc

I think the configuration file should be enough, if it's clear that
removing it from the configuration file will make it go back to 8000.
