Here's one way to do it:
1. Report a bug against trimmomatic in Debian [1]
2. Once you have a bug #, click 'Also affects distribution/package' in
the LP bug and paste the URL of the Debian bug to link them
3. Reply to the Debian bug with the first line of the message being
'Control: tags -1 + patch' and attach a patch or diff
