No problem at all.  You should run lintian which informs you about this
issue and than you can fix it yourself in the future. ;-)

Please use

    gbp clone ...

instead of git clone.  It fetches all branches.  You can for sure do
`git fetch origin` afterwards and checkout the branches pristine-tar and
upstream.  These are the two branches you should have besides master.
Make sure you use the master branch for your debian/ directory always.
Some more tips about gbp are in the Debian Med policy[1] (where you might
like to seek for the string gbp).  Its worth reading it ...
