I'd be more concerned about the fact that some commits are mentioning
1.0beta.22, 1.0beta.23 etc - so they might fail in tagging what they
consider a sensible test target anyway ...

I would consider those private releases as they aren't mentioned on their homepage.
 
However, do you think commit e00630039eb07979b960661cc328e7d0824d2fb0
in packaging git solves your concern?
