Tutorials? Portal? Shiny web presence?

Hello,

I was at the ECCB earlier this month and in particular over the
tutorials I had asked about the idea to synchronize their tutorial
efforts with our packaging. I was a bit surprised, but all tutorials
indeed requested to install a considerable amount of software, one was
even a Ubuntu-derived VM with several GB in size. I only asked three,
but they would all happily see their work linked from our pages and also
come up with a variant of their tutorial that explains how to install
our packages. This is nice, I thought.

The problem, which may not really be a problem but we better have some
sort of consensus over how to do it, is that I do know know about what
page should be the one linking out to those introductory (or often less
introductory) approaches to computational biology. The page we had is
lost over the unification of the management of all blends. When googling
for "debian med", I am pointed to

https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/ - which is even localised but
in my mind completely pointless and few people can update it. I think
this page should be removed or auto-forward to https://blends.debian.org/med

https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMed - which is the page that could be but
is not.

https://www.*debian*.org/devel/*debian*-*med*/index.de.html is the same
as https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/

https://blends.debian.org/med/tasks/practice - nice, everyone
understands it, just nothing for computational biology

https://blends.debian.org/med/tasks/ - not suggested by google but kind
of intuitive to check after being pointed to the prior. This may be
about the best page we have.

https://blends.debian.org/med/ - not suggested by google but kind of a
nice URL that people will try who found the former. I understand it is
auto-generated. https://blends.debian.org/astro/ is nicer

https://www.debian.org/blends/ - nice page IMHO

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debian-Med - funnily enough, the Wiki page
seems better than most of what we had produced.

We all do not seem to care too much about any such web presentation of
Debian Med, otherwise it would be better. Given that we do not want to
invest too much time, I very much favour a decent automation, much like
a blends-version of the package tracker. We kind of had that once.
Almost, just it was specific for Debian Med. Would it not sound like a
good GSoC project to come up with a cross-blends web site generator? Or
maybe we can generate something that would serve as input for another
generator like http://gohugo.io (I am a bit of a fan, btw, and I should
point out that it is already packaged
https://packages.qa.debian.org/h/hugo.html).

So, I like the idea to have a home page for Debian Med that would
function as a portal to our scientific community. And I would also like
if that portal would be technically shared with other blends, so we
avoid reinventing/reimplementing wheels, here.

Cheers,

Steffen
