Thanks for your introduction and your interest in the Debian Med project
and its GSoC.

>From my perspective the best way to start would be to package
PhyloPythiaS since you are familiar with it and also add a test suite
to it.  The main rules how to create Debian packages in the Debian
Med team are explained in our team policy[1].  I hope you might have
realised the Mentoring of the Month[2] effort which is discussed here
on the list currently in connection with the GSoC project.

This should provide you with all technical skills you need to cope
with the GsoC project.
