.../python-fitbit(master) $ git fetch

.../python-fitbit(master) $ gbp-pull
gbp:info: Branch 'master' is already up to date.
gbp:info: Branch 'upstream' is already up to date.
.../python-fitbit(master) $ git branch
* master
  upstream

After a fresh

   gbp-clone ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-med/python-fitbit.git

I get all branches.  Strange ... but I think we should forget it for now.
