I haven't yet succeeded at getting the build stable, so help on that
would be appreciated!

By the way, I have updated the debian subversion repository [1] to the newest
release ITK 4.3.1. It builds on my x86 and amd64 machines but the upload is
stuck in the NEW queue [2], so results for other architectures are not
available yet.

Since I tried it on Gentoo, I know that 4.2.1 didn't build with python, but 4.3.0 did by using swig 2.0 and gccxml = 0.9.0_pre20120309. It seems that 4.3.1 also does compile with python bindings (currently at 65%).

It is now also possible to use the system libtiff >= 4.0 (libtiff5-dev on Debian).

For a look at the CMAKE flags I used see the ebuild (look at the src_configure() part):

I didn't try to enable ITKV3 compatibility, but I used fftw and hdf5, and I only tested the build on amd64.

Best
Gert
