And returning back to the problem:
as far as I understand changing version from let's say 2.0.0-beta6 to
2.0.0~beta6 makes the version 2.0.0~beta6 lower that the original.
for example:
$dpkg --compare-versions 2.0.0-beta6-1 gt 2.0.0~beta7-1 && echo $?
0
What can we do with that ? the only solution I see is to keep the old
versions format and do not change to "~" as lintian suggests.
