whenever approaching a new package I usually do smth like
$> apt-cache search ewd
# you never know -- it might already be there

there is no package "ewd" yet.
$> wnpp-check ewd
# or someone might already be working on it
also returned empty.
$> reportbug wnpp
# time to send ITP bugreport to avoid possible duplication of effort
