I somehow fail to see in how far the watch file which is used to fetch
the upstream source is related to the use of SVN or Git.  Could you give
some links which are leading to the new source location?  I could have a
look into an update of the get-orig-source script if this helps.

If you intend to work on this package more intensely I personally do not
see a problem if you move it from SVN to Git if this helps your
workflow.  This should be noted in a README.status file as other
packages in SVN show.
