I think you are experiencing bug #710924 that is now much easier to
trigger with the recent security update. I backported the fix for that
squeeze and uploaded it to https://people.debian.org/~mvo/apt/squeeze/
- if you could give it a go and see if that solves your problem, that
would be great. I would really like to push this into squeeze-lts
after I get some feedback from testers.
