The question is perhaps more like: 'What do you expect from an installer
of a live image'?

Essentially there are two possible, both correct, answers:
a) install the live image onto the hard disk (which means that you get
the same functionality as on the live stick)
b) install a regular Debian, using the packages from from the live image
onto the hard disk (which means that you get to make all choices by
yourself)

So I think that both installers (the boot option(s) and Calamares) could
use a new option that selects between both scenarios.
