Re: An abrupt End to Debian Live

I agree with the last few posts here it is a huge mess now and it is up to Debian to continue this work and support our downstream efforts since they have decided to do this to Daniel and our Debian-live efforts. As much as I love and support Debian I am honestly not expecting that but this is now their mess and if they have any ethical responsibility for their actions or want to remain to be considered the Linux from which others are derived, I sincerely hope they will do this. Perhaps once Ian gets tired of handholding us through all the issues Daniel addressed here with us daily they will reconsider. I can see that happening in fairly short order, but doubt Daniel is going to be willing to come back after having this happen without a lot more support and guarantees this isn't going to happen again in the future. *Just speculative and wishful thinking on my part but, I would really like to see Daniel remain in charge of what is going on here for all our sakes. He really did help all of us not sure we can rely on that from the new maintainers. No offense Ian, but you are off to a terrible start in this new role you have decided to force yourself into.

Exactly!!

This entire episode is unfortunate and as opensource software users and developers, it's our duty to make sure personal egos and bureaucratic hindrance does not affect spirit and development.

Hope a solution is worked out soon.

Dear debian management team -  you are good guys,  just don't let projects die because a rule written on paper says so.. Or because someone from top level management thinks otherwise.

Let us work together.

WTF?

I'm part of developer team for Huayra GNU/Linux [1] a debian derivated
distro that shipped in more than MILLON of netbooks to high school
students in past years. And today the State was delivered about
5.316.988 netbooks

I was very sad this news. Debian Live and specific tool live-builder is
our main build system and the BEST tool to make live systems. (including
compare on other gnu/linux distributions)

The Daniel (and another contribs) work was excelent.

Please, Debian developers must still support this project.
