i also tried (on ubuntu 13.10 using lb --version
3.0~a57-1)
(so wheezy as target and saucy as host)

"
mkdir test
cd test
lb config --config git://live.debian.net/git/live-images.git 
	--mode  debian
cd images/rescue
sudo lb build
"
fails on
dependency of grub-pc >> grub2-common (<> grub-legacy)
