I think it's plain wrong (affirming wrong information + missing needed information) rather than "not clear enough". Given I've not found time to fix it myself last week (sorry about that), I've reported it as a bug so that this does not get forgotten, and so that anyone else who is affected by this documentation issue has a chance to understand what's happening to them without reading the source code: #713957.
