no; this will not fix sandros problem; sandros problem lies most likely in syslinux-themes-ubuntu.
Daniel, this was submitted already but probably ubuntu-specific as far as I remember from our discussion at that time, hence not merged.
i could not reproduce the problem neither on debian nor ubuntu that the mentioned patch tries to fix, and, since it creates further 'problems'[0], i prefered to not apply it. my claim still is that the patch is not necessary at all, so far nobody could show the opposite.
anyway.. thanks, it's good to know that otherwise all your stuff has been successfully merged.
[0] by introducing a new assumption of that every valiable kernel image needs to have a modules directory; where we strive to get away with such assumption in the remaining places to support more arbitrary kernels and lower the requirements on custom kernels, since not every body seems to be able/willing to build proper kernel tree packages
