Package: live-build
Version: 2.0.6-1
Severity: normal
The 'stripped' hook (lb config --hooks stripped) deletes (among other
stuff) /usr/share/zoneinfo/*. The problem is that gnome-panel apparently
needs this info. If it's not there, it causes gnome-panel (2.30.2-2 in
my case) to segfault when clicking the clock applet.

the stripped hook is not intendet to be used generally, as the result is
not more considered 'debian' anymore, however, we ship it merely as an
inspiratio for others to base upon it.
additionally, the hook is not usefull for desktop systems anyway, as
there you have big images as a result anyway. the purpose is to make
small systems (<<100mb) even smaller.
given that, i don't consider this to be a bug in the hook that it
'breaks' other packages (with the same argumentation, removing locales
e.g. breaks i18n, but again, in the situations you want to use the hook,
this is the expected behaviour).
