Re: Supporting wireless as good as possible on official images
i thought my previous mail should be easily understandable, but i'll try
again then:
* users who use the prebuild images from cdimage.debian.org will
never have non-free firmware packages included.
users who require non-free stuff for their wireless and are using
the prebuild images should be pointed to a readme (included on the
image) that tells them how to add non-free and install the required
packages.
* users who build their own images should get the firmware packages
automatically installed *iff* they are building with non-free
enabled.
therefore, as richard said, the packages lists need to be
extended with conditional packages that get only installed when
non-free is enabled (live-heper makes use of this already in
several other cases).
unless someone either proposes a readme, or supplies a list of firmware
packages, or ideally does both, i'm afraid nothing will happen.
