lzma with debian-live was: (Bug#553707: RFH: lzma -- future of Debian squashfs-lzma)

hi,

i hope its okay if i follow up on the thread started with that bug report with a question: what would be the recomended way to use lzma compression with debian-live?

so i'm looking here:
http://grml.org/grml-live/#current_state

so i should be able to add grml sources to config/chroot_sources/

and i can use config/chroot_apt/preferences to pin squashfs-tools to the grml version.

but if i understand correctly i need a way to use "squashfs-lzma-tools" from grml instead of "squashfs-tools".

should i change line 61 of /usr/bin/lh_source_debian from "squashfs-lzma-tools" "squashfs-tools"? or is there a less hacky way of doing it.

my live system is lenny but i'm using a custom built 2.6.31 kernel w/ aufs patches. do i need to apply lzma patches to the kernel? where can they be found?

i´m running out of space and would like try using lzma to make some more. using dvd is not the best option for me because: 1. when it comes to download time the shorter the better and 2. believe it or not i still run into a lot of computers which may have cdrom but do not have dvdrom.

thanks,
kevin
