problems creating encrypted debian-live

Dear Debian-live experts,

I tried to create an encrypted debian-live USB stick, but when booting from the USB stick I get the following error:

There was an error decrypting the root filesystem. LOOP_SET_STATUS: Invalid argument, requested cipher or key length (256 bits) not supported by kernel

The configuration I used was:
lh_config -b usb-hdd -d lenny -e aes256
I have no idea what went wrong, is this some bug in live-helper?

Help is much appreciated,

Thanks in advance,
