if you have used one of the prebuild images from cdimage.debian.org, it
is either not recognizing your hardware (unlikely; except if you have
extremely bleeding edge hardware), or you've choosen an image that has
no desktop environment on it (on purpose, e.g. for the standard flavour).
however. you need to give proper information. just stating doesn't work
doesn't help.
