first. until this[0] is done, i do not want to apply any changes in
live-helper or live-initramfs that are not suitable to 5.0.1, so it will
have to wait for that anyway.

second, applying your patch would make live-initramfs automatically use
dialog if available, which is not what we would want. the default
behaviour should be to not use it. if you want to use it, you have to
configure it, e.g. by sourcing /etc/default/live-initramfs or similar.

third, the initscript gets uglier and uglier. once the lenny stuff is
gone, i would like to not apply any patches anymore to the old sources
and finally split live-initramfs as it was several mentioned during the
last year (initramfs stuff into live-initramfs, userspace stuff into
live-initscripts).

so please hold your breath for a couple of weeks.
