however, syslinux 3.71 does still have some regressions, therefore i've
uploaded to small (50mb) test images for i386 and amd64:

I downloaded these two iso's and tested them on:

IBM G40 thinkpad imtel celeron 2.6MHz
bios: (IBM) version 1.15 (2004-07-29)
iso:i386
result: booted up fine.

AMD Atholon 64 X2 dual core 5200_ 2.7GHz
bios: AliveNF6P-VSTA P1.20 (ASRock motherboard)
iso: amd64
result: booted up fine.

TOSHIBA Satellite laptop M50-MX2 (celeron M)
bios: Phoenix v1.10
iso: i386
result: booted up fine.

Although I just realized I've been testing this syslinux 3.71 for awhile from live-helper on the IBM G40 .. but from a usb flash.

I also tried the i386 iso on a Acer Aspire One but it crashed
well past the squashedfs bootup. I can give more info on this but I
haven't been following the Acer Aspire One banter on this or other sites to know if this is an easy thing to do. (boot Debian on AA1).
If you want more info on what the error messages were, let me know.

I don't understand what you meant by '3.71 does still have some regressions' .. are there specific tests/configurations you are looking for? .. or just bootup status?

I can try a 800MHz duron machine and a Via EPIA LN10000EG Mini-ITX if you want more.

THANKS EVERYONE for you hard work on making live-helper and family a reality!

Harold
