Presetting keyboard layout

Hello,

I'm trying to set up a live system (for USB stick; later I'll try to
bake it into a flash IDE drive) and am not able to set a different
keyboard. What I try to do is setting

  LH_BOOTAPPEND="locale=de_DE.UTF-8 keyb=pc105 klayout=de"

in $DIR/config/binary.

This gets passed to syslinux allright, as can be seen in
$DIR/binary/syslinus.cfg:

  LABEL live
	kernel vmlinuz
	append initrd=initrd.img boot=casper locale=de_DE.UTF-8 keyb=pc105 klayout=de username=gast hostname=debian

- -- and the "locale=de_DE.UTF-8" part works like a charm. Just the
keyboard...

On another note, I wasn't able to get things up with grub insteead of
syslinux (I can live with that, and I didn't try hard yet, so it most
probably is some stupid mistake on my part).

I am using live-helper 1.0~a22-1~bpo.1 on Debian 4.0.

Ideas?

Thanks
