Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.0
Severity: normal

Dear Lintian maintainers,

in my package embassy-phylip, there is a comment saying that the
package is not GPL despite a copy of the GPL is distributed with the
sources. This triggers the copyright-should-refer-to-common-license-file-for-gpl error.

http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/non-free/e/embassy-phylip/current/copyright

When Lintian starts to take advantage of DEP-5, perhaps you can
consider to exclude Comments fields from the copyright-should-refer-to-common-license-file-for-gpl check.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

Since the filing of this bug in 2011, the embassy-phlip package
switched to a DEP-5 copyright. It no longer triggers the tag. The
complete tag output is below the message.

> In Rhino package

Likewise, the rhino package switched to a DEP-5 copyright, which can
be found here:

    https://sources.debian.org/src/rhino/1.7.7.1-1/debian/copyright/

It also no longer triggers the tag. The complete tag output is at the
very bottom of this message.

With DEP-5 copyrights gaining in popularity, no other efforts were
made to provoke this bug. From our perspective, the bug is no longer
reproducible.

Closing this bug.

Kind regards
Felix Lechner
