Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.0~rc2
Severity: normal

Hey,

it seems that the desktop-command-not-in-package tag has an issue with
how the path is handled.

I have an override set in evolution:

evolution-common: desktop-command-not-in-package /usr/share/applications/evolution.desktop evolution
evolution-common: desktop-command-not-in-package /usr/share/applications/evolution-settings.desktop evolution-settings

but running lintian on it gives:

corsac@hidalgo: lintian evolution_2.32.2-3_amd64.changes
W: evolution source: newer-standards-version 3.9.2 (current is 3.9.1)
W: evolution-common: desktop-command-not-in-package usr/share/applications/evolution-settings.desktop evolution-settings
W: evolution-common: desktop-command-not-in-package usr/share/applications/evolution.desktop evolution
W: evolution: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/evolution-settings

The two desktop-command-not-in-package shouldn't be displayed since they
should be overriden, but the command lacks the initial slash.

Is it a regression in lintian or should all the overrides be updated?

Regards,

Hi

That is very much intentional (as I may have mentioned over IRC before I
lost connection). Please see the 2.5.0~rc1 entry in the changelog,
#534940 or the d-d-a email[1] for more details on the change of file
prefixes.
Should you discover that Lintian still uses a "./" or a "/" prefix for
a file name, please file a bug against Lintian.

~Niels
