What about upgrading but manually disabling that check?
a tag "..." if (false); should be more than enough ;)
And if it were such an important issue what about releasing a new version
without the check? otherwise lenny will be shipped with the old version and
delaying the upgrade of lintian.d.o will be useless/a waste of time.
