The *signed* DCO is useful. The *unsigned* DCO is not, it's mostly there for future contributors.

You can certainly make an argument that the DCO isn’t *effective* at supporting
the chain of custody of the end-user licensing of the code, but I think that
without question that is what the *intention* of the DCO is.
