Small correction.

Keep in mind that while facts are not protectable subject
matter, the selection and arrangement are entitled to
"thin" protection.

The Supreme Court case defining the line is the Feist
case, FEIST PUBLICATIONS, INC. v. RURAL TELEPHONE SERVICE
CO., 499 U.S. 340 (1991).  There's a nice hyperlinked copy
