Hinted fonts, because they contain what could be construed as algorithmic or programmatic constructs, are copyrightable. Without looking into it, I'd bet that figlet fonts are *not* hinted. There really wouldn't be a point for such a limited application. Figlet fonts are probably simply a form of bitmapped font that can sometimes encode more than one "bit" per "pixel". -- G.
