Bitmapped fonts are not copyrightable in the United States.

Hinted fonts, because they contain what could be construed as
algorithmic or programmatic constructs, are copyrightable.

Without looking into it, I'd bet that figlet fonts are *not* hinted.
There really wouldn't be a point for such a limited application.  Figlet
fonts are probably simply a form of bitmapped font that can sometimes
encode more than one "bit" per "pixel".
