Then why IS it Debian GNU/Linux instead of Debian Linux?

Does base.tgz include any Apache code?! We can do the OpenBSD thing and
split hairs about what's truly Debian and what's optional: I don't think
either one of us wants to do that. Would something like:

Debian <portname> (code contributed by various authors listed in CREDITS,
available on request)

work for you? It is included in the ad, just in a separate file that may
or may not be looked at by the recipient. Since there are over 3,000
individual copyright interests involved, I'm thinking that due diligence
would be covered if it were a separate list: nobody would want to deal
with the whole of the list in a single ad (as if there were any official
Debian ads...)

The way I read it is that Debian's moral duty is to see that credit is
given where it's due anyhow. The mantra of "Debian is just volunteers"
gets thrown about often when a DD perk is mentioned: with a DFSG free
license, the author certainly isn't getting paid for their efforts. It's
time that Debian recognizes that they aren't the only volunteers in the
chain, and credit for authorship is not just a perk: it's the law in this
case.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath wisdom count the number of the BSD: for
