We didn't remove all .gif file readers from Debian. If we had done this,
then it would be impossible to convert .gif files to .png, .jpg, .mng, or
some other open format.
The ability to convert mp3's to a Free format is one of the most important
reasons why we must keep mpeg3 decoders as a part of Debian.
