i was of the opinion that it's clause 4 ("all advertisements must include")
rather than clause 3 ("you may not refer to ... in advertisements) that
causes problems? at least according to rms' opinion, as expressed on
www.gnu.org, it is ("the bsd licence has serious problems", under the
philosophy section). i personally tend to agree--the 3d clause just protects
the author's right to privacy, while the 4th is merely another demand for
tangible recompense in the form of free advertisement.
